This morning, I stayed in because I wasn't feeling well, and it was raining really hard so I probably couldn't see that much anyway. I caught up on work and some applications, and then met my American friend. She has been very busy lately because she works as a program assistant (the one I visited at the hospital), and today she dropped off her last student so we went to her campus area to hang out.
The rain had stopped, so the city wasn't as hot. Many of the rivers and parks here are lined with weeping willow trees. That is my favorite tree, though I wish we didn't call it a weeping willow in English because it makes it sound so sad. I think their drooping branches look like a lady's hair, very elegant.
I had an easy day, just like any other day in New York really, except with amazing food. People in Beijing seem to eat a lot of spicy food, and my friend said that the food of Sichuan province, which is very spicy, is the most popular here. I watched some Chinese TV, ate some black rice porridge made with black rice, red beans, black sesame, black wheat (buckwheat I think), and black wood ear, and relaxed in my friend's dorm. Then, I visited a convenience store and bought seaweed flavored Pringles and Rose flavored and jasmine flavored gum. I like Asian gum more than American gum.
A fairly quiet day, and a nice break.
