DC Again

I went back to DC for the birthday of one of my best friends from college. I mainly hung around Dupont Circle, since she goes to school at SAIS (Johns Hopkins). It's much more quiet and less crowded than New York is. During the day, many stores were not even open, and there were few people on the streets. We ran into some aggressive homeless people, but that was about it. In the circle itself there are chess boards, where many people can bring their own pieces and play.

Since it was restaurant week, we tried a French place called Bistro Bistro. I would highly recommend it! Their normal menu is reasonably priced, and every dish was excellent--we had mussels, crab and artichoke dip, seafood linguine, lamb, creme brulee, and souflee. Later that evening, we went to a Hibachi place.

I wonder if Hibachi is actually Japanese, or if it's a gimmick. Most Hibachi places are pretty standard--they make a lot of noise with their spatulas, throw eggs into the air, and make an onion volcano. Since I was in DC to see my friends, I really didn't do any interesting tourist activities.

There's a good tapas place called...Espacio, I think, and a good coffee place called Peregrine Espresso. They have a summer drink with masala in it.

On another note, the SAIS student lounge is great! Too bad Columbia has no student lounge like this. The more I think about it, Columbia kind of sucks. SAIS has a ping pong table, pool table, plush sofas, vending machines, and small kitchen in their student lounge. The best part is, no one steals anything, so the ping pong paddles, pool balls, etc. are always there for people to use. I think Columbia law would have been a much better place if we had a similar lounge.
