Fjord Tours

Today I got up very early to go to Fjord tours. Even though I did not have a lot of time I just had to have their breakfast again, it is soooo good! I think that may be my favorite part about Bergen. So far a lot of the Norwegian food that I have had is very salty (this Swedish girl warned me about that).

Anyhow, it was raining in the morning, but by afternoon the sun came out and it was like someone turned on a light and lit up the mountains and the sea--everything because so much prettier! We went to Songefjord, the longest and deepest fjord in Norway. The mountains are tall and many are capped with snow. Everywhere we go we are surrounded by these mountains! Then I took a ferry into Naeroyfjord, a protected UNESCO World Heritage sight. That fjord was amazing, like a scene out of Lord of the Rings, it was so pretty that it made my teeth hurt (not sure why that happens, maybe I just have very bad teeth). The water was a bright green. Both seals and dolphins live in this area but we only say dolphins. Norway is by far the prettiest country I have visited so far (in Europe). From Gudvargen I took the bus to Voss and the train back to Bergen, both very nice scenic routes but after seeing Naeroyfjord I was not that impressed...
On the ferry ride I talked with this Norwegian student who studied at Purdue (is that how you spell it?), and I told him about how some girl in Copenhagen broke my camera and he said, "yeah, stupid Danish, you can't trust them". HAHAHAHA I heard that the Norwegians like to make fun of the Danish, and the Swedish like to make fun of the Norwegians.
I also managed to buy another adaptor! Sigh, I miss the breakfast here already. Maybe I will go to the supermarket and buy some of that brown cheese and see if I can find that bread. I did go to Godt Brod to try to buy the same wheat bread, but ended up buying something else that was kind of gross :( I went to Sostrene Hel...something, a place famous for fish cake and fish balls. The fish balls here are not like Chinese fish balls, they are very soft and made with ground Halibut. The fish cake was too salty for my tastes. My new Swedish friend told me that she does not like Norwegian waffles because they are thin and soft. I tried them and I agree--Belgian waffles are MUCH better. The Norwegian ones are not simply soft, they taste kind of soggy...and I find them more like a cake in texture than a waffle.
Tonight I will be taking the night train back to Oslo, and from then to Malmo, and then to Berlin! I am excited to head South a bit, I hope it will be warmer! I have been wearing 5 layers everyday and essentially the same 3 outer layers, so I need to do laundry O_O
